Gregory A. Cox Memorial

Gregory Cox was a much beloved board member at NAPD. He brought vast experience in leadership, operations, and strategic planning . “Greg’s counsel and wisdom will be sorely missed,” noted C. Lwanga Yonke, NAPD Board President. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Greg’s family and friends at this difficult time.”

Gregory Cox 1950 – 2010 Beloved husband, father, and son, Gregory Alan Cox, 60, was born in Dublin, GA to parents, Henry Lee and Mardre Ann Cox on April 15, 1950. He passed away on June 10, 2010 in Bakersfield, CA. Greg graduated with honors from Dublin High School in 1968 and earned his Bachelor’s of Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1973 where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. Greg went on to receive his MBA from California State University, Bakersfield in 2001 where he was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma honorary society and recognized as outstanding graduating MBA student. The majority of Greg’s career was spent as a manager in the oil and gas industry. Greg was also a part-time instructor of management and computer information systems classes for the University of Phoenix and California State University, Bakersfield. Greg was a consummate professional who was respected and admired for his leadership. More than anything Greg delighted in the many close friendships formed throughout his career. Greg always had time for his family and friends. He loved baseball and good music, he was an avid reader and history enthusiast, and he was a legend on the dance floor. His passion, kindness, and love will be greatly missed. Greg is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sandy; daughter, Shanna and husband Chris Young; son, Shea; mother, Mardre Ann; brother, John and wife Susan; niece, Alison and husband Andrew Barrett; niece, Courtney; nephew, Blair; and many cousins. Greg is predeceased by his father, Henry. At this time, no memorial service is planned. At his request, a gathering of friends and family will be scheduled at a later date.
